The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) is set to bring about a new wave of job opportunities in Hong Kong, with professionals in the information technology field having a competitive edge. According to Robert Sheffield, CEO of Morgan McKinley Greater China (Hong Kong and China), AI technology is creating new positions and adding new skill requirements to existing ones.

In Hong Kong, the financial services, retail, and telecommunications industries are undergoing large-scale technological upgrades, creating a demand for professionals with AI skills. Those who already possess these skills can expect to earn salaries of up to HKD 100,000 per month.

In addition to AI skills, flexible office space provider IWG has also pointed out that there will be a significant change in the use of artificial intelligence in daily life this year. Companies that invest in helping employees understand how AI can benefit hybrid work will reap the rewards. Therefore, businesses should consider how to train their employees to acquire AI skills in order to meet future work demands.

Furthermore, the widespread adoption of hybrid work models is creating new job opportunities, such as Chief Hybrid Officer (CHO) and “office coordinator” positions, which aim to balance the needs of office and remote employees, ensure productivity, and effectively address various operational challenges.
